D302: Visual Storytelling

Other Creative Arts

Are you ready to explore the realm of visual storytelling through your art? This class is designed to spark your creativity and guide you in transforming your drawings and paintings into compelling narratives. We will look at various ways of visual storytelling, such as creating a story told by a single picture, developing a series of images, using text as part of your image, the book, and much more. You will draw inspiration from a diverse array of artists known for their narrative art, and consider global perspectives in storytelling. While working extensively with pencils and sketchbooks, you are encouraged to use any materials that resonate. Our journey will include brief lectures to immerse you in the world of narrative art, smaller discussion groups to deepen your understanding of the subjects and the artwork created, and dedicated sessions to work on class projects. This class is more than just learning; it's about finding your unique voice in the vast landscape of visual storytelling.

Students are responsible for purchasing their own materials.
