Get to know - or reacquaint yourself - with some of the best novels of recent years with this lively discussion forum for fans of great writing. At each meeting the tutor, an experienced writer and editor, will lead the discussion, exploring your thoughts and feelings about these trendsetting, critically acclaimed books.
"The books the group will discuss are A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce (3 October), The Talented Mr Ripley by Patricia Highsmith (28 November),'The Lady with the Little Dog' by Anton Chekhov and 'The Bear Came Over the Mountain' by Alice Munro (23 January; copies of these short stories will be provided), The Birthday Boys by Beryl Bainbridge (20 March) and The Long Take by Robin Robertson (15 May). Each book (acquired independently apart from the two stories) needs to be read in advance of the online session. Students are responsible for purchasing their own materials."
These classes are aimed at those aged 50 and over.
