D306: Taking Your Botanical Drawing & Painting Further (OS146)

Botanical Drawing & Painting

10 credits (Applied Arts)

If you have some experience of drawing and painting botanical subjects, take your knowledge further. A session on 16th century botanical painting is followed by lessons on pen and ink drawings and looking at old masters’ studies. Complete a bisection study and a separate botanical flower study of your own choosing. Practical demonstrations and individual tuition throughout - freehand sketching, proportions, rendering, presentation and composition. Gain confidence in creating highly detailed and visually pleasing art works in pen and watercolours.

Please note there is no class meeting on Wednesday 29 May, the class schedule has been extended to make up for this. Please also note the final 2 class meetings (5 & 12 June) will be held in the Centre for Lifelong Learning, room GH322, level 3 of the Graham Hills Building at 40 George Street, Glasgow G1 1QE. Students are responsible for purchasing their own materials.
