E406: Ablaze: Feeding the Flame 2: Creative Writing for Writers (OS673) (online via Myplace)

Creative Writing online anytime (Blaze)

10 credits (Applied Writing)

Open to anyone who has writing experience and is confident in sharing their work, or who has completed 'Feeding the Flame' or the on-campus version 'Creative Writing for Writers: Taking Your Creative Writing Further 2' Ablaze will cover topics including Dialogue Management, Perspective, Plotting and Structure, Style, Research and Getting into Print. This class is delivered through Myplace, the University's virtual learning environment, allowing you to work in your own time. It will continue with the same weekly structure to keep you inspired and motivated and to help you further build on your writing skills and experience. As ever, in-depth feedback will be offered on submitted writing and the tutor will be on hand to guide you in getting the best from your creative writing. Note that this class is the online, credit-bearing version of the 'Taking Your Creative Writing Further 3' class (OS175/OS282). Credit can be awarded for either class, but not both.

Our long-standing, credit-bearing, online classes provide lessons using downloadable learning materials and are designed as an immersive learning experience where students can interact with each other on a daily basis if they choose. Classes are delivered through Myplace, the University's virtual learning environment. This is a user-friendly platform and all you need is a broadband internet connection. Besides allowing students to work in their own time there is regular written tutor feedback and also two 'live chats' with your tutor and fellow students (which you can access via the Zoom link placed within the Myplace site, there is no requirement for students to download the Zoom app for this purpose). You can also study for credit if you choose by completing set assessed elements.

Once the Centre has confirmed the class will be going ahead, you will be sent an email which will include a weblink to CLL’s website providing all the relevant information for starting the class. IT Services will issue the Myplace username/password a few days prior to the class commencing in two separate emails.

Please note the Myplace site will open on the start date of the class, and is then accessible for the full duration of the class (there are no scheduled weekly sessions). You will be notified via Myplace of dates of any live chat opportunities.
