E322: Writing for Stage and Screen (OS638)

Script Writing & Film Appreciation

10 credits (Theatre Arts)

Every professional dramatist was once a novice who knew virtually nothing about their craft. So, if you've ever entertained the idea of writing for stage or screen, but don't know where to begin, then this introductory class is for you. Through a series of practical writing exercises, you'll gain experience in dealing with concepts of character, conflict, dialogue, plot, story development and much more. Build your own new story, working with characters and ideas generated during the class. There is no need to come armed with pre-existing storylines. At the end of the class, you should have a completed draft of a one-act play or short film script, as well as key knowledge that will help you with all of your future dramatic writing projects. Places are limited to 16 students.

Please note due to public holidays in April and May this class will finish on Monday 24 June 2019.
