Other Language Opportunities, Spanish, Literature
This advanced Spanish book group is suitable if you like reading and love the Spanish language. If the answer is yes, join this group. Over six monthly meetings read and discuss different novels. This gives you the opportunity to practise Spanish and discuss the work in a relaxed atmosphere. After a brief introductory talk, there are discussions in small groups and the class as a whole. You will have the necessary skills if you are able to read novels and communicate well in Spanish and have completed 'Spanish 4' or equivalent.
This Daytime Programme class will temporarily be delivered online (via Zoom). Please note that class sessions will extend in duration from 1.5 to 2 hours in duration from January 2022.
The books the group will discuss are ‘Pedro Páramo’ by Juan Rulfo (Mexico) 21 October, ‘Las leyes de la frontera’ by Javier Cercas (Spain) 18 November, ‘Santa Evita’ by Tomás Eloy Martínez (Argentina) 16 December, ‘El amor en los tiempos de cólera’ by Gabriel García Márquez (Colombia) 13 January, ‘Últimas tardes con Teresa’ by Juan Marsé (Spain) 10 February and ‘La casa de la laguna’ by Rosario Ferré (Puerto Rico) 10 March.
Novels to be read in advance of the class and are available on Amazon, http://abebooks.co.uk and Kindle.
These classes are aimed at those aged 50 and over.
