D181: The Life and Work of Galileo, Newton and Einstein

Science and Technology

Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein changed the way we comprehend nature and the Universe. Working in an extremely hostile environment, Galileo put evidence based science on firm footing and is rightly called the father of modern science. Newton, a troubled genius perpetually at war with his inner conscience, did more to advance our understanding of light, motion and the Universe than any other scientist. Albert Einstein, considered the greatest mind of the 20th century, not only set up the fundamentals for the development of quantum mechanics (that now underpins the modern industrial landscape), but through his theories of relativity also completely transformed our understanding of the Universe. Without using mathematics, through illustrated talks, you will learn about the life and work of these genius scientists, their relevance to modern life and beyond.
