Ancient Egyptian Art is beautiful and immediately recognisable, but what does it all mean? This highly illustrated course, which assumes no prior knowledge, introduces key works in context from temples and tombs to explore the ideology and belief systems of their time. Identify, describe, and explain the characteristics of Egyptian Art in order to understand the meaning behind their manufacture, presentation, and style. Join an Egyptologist to learn more about the history and culture behind some of the masterpieces of the ancient world. Selected readings will be provided. Lecture style with question and answer time.
