This one-off, face-to-face satellite workshop introduces learners to Scotland's rich storytelling traditions by exploring how Ayr's heritage connects with local folklore, people, and place. Storyteller and author Allison Galbraith will share folklore and stories drawn from the area's rich oral heritage, alongside archive materials from the library to spark memory and discussion. Through an engaging, experiential approach, participants will be invited to share their own personal anecdotes, family folklore, and knowledge of the area. Learners are encouraged to bring a meaningful object or photograph as a starting point for storytelling, helping to create a collaborative and reflective environment. By the end of the session, you will have developed confidence in sharing stories, strengthened their communication and creative skills, and gained a deeper appreciation of the library’s archival materials and resources.

Students should bring a pen, paper and a photo or an object to stimulate their story-sharing if desired.
