Other Creative Arts
This practical, studio-based class is for you if you have always wanted to give pottery a go. You will begin by studying the nature and properties of clay whilst exploring the basic methods of forming and constructing. Your skills will be developed as each method is employed singly to produce simple ware. Next, function and design will be considered, as methods of forming are combined to produce more substantial pieces. Techniques of decoration will be covered at each stage of the ceramic process, allowing further opportunities for individual expression. By the end of the class, you should have an understanding of the process of ceramic production and knowledge of the main techniques for creating and decorating pottery. By creating a series of pieces, hand skills will have been developed and creative potential in three dimensional design explored.
Fee includes cost of materials.
These classes are aimed at those aged 50 and over.
