D502: Abstract Drawing and Painting

Drawing & Painting, Spring Seminar & Workshop Programme

Abstraction allows man to see with his mind what he cannot see physically with his eyes.' - Arshile Gorky. In this 2-day seminar students will be immersing in the creative process to create a series of abstract pictures deriving from the six basic elements of a visual vocabulary: Line, Texture, Shape, Form, Colour and Value. Day 1 focusses on drawing, abstraction through observational drawing of space and objects. Day 2 looks at colour and value working with oils or acrylic on canvas, exploring ideas of mood and narrative. This process is very satisfying - you will learn to use it to increase success in your painting and add interest to your artwork. Students are responsible for purchasing their own materials.
