D178: Open Studies Certificate in Social Policy (Open Campus)

The Open Campus (undergraduate study for all)

30 credits ()

In collaboration with the School of Social Work and Social Policy.

A fascinating subject, which examines the welfare of societies and individuals. It provides an exciting opportunity for students to engage with contemporary social issues such as inequalities, disadvantage, diversity, globalisation and crime.

We are delighted to offer the opportunity to join undergraduate students in their first year social policy lectures and get a real flavour of what studying this fascinating subject is like as an undergraduate student. The class has been re-worked for Open Studies students so there are no exams, only assessment which allows you to explore the subject further and take part in research studies.

No prior knowledge of Social Policy is required. A full Induction session will be held on Monday 16 September from 10.00-12.00. Classes are held twice a week on a Monday and Wednesday 11.00-12.00 from Monday 23 September 2019. Please note additional dates may be added. The full timetable will be provided at the Induction session.

You may be able to use the Part-Time Fee Grant to help with funding. The fee is £420 (if you are eligible, the Part-Time Fee Grant will fund £321 of this fee). Please note you will be required to pay the full fee upfront to secure a place and if/when you receive PTFG funding the Centre will process a refund for the difference. Please visit http://www.saas.gov.uk/part_time/ug/index.htm.

Please note that this course starts on Monday 16 September 2019 with a compulsory induction session from 10.00-12.00. Room to be confirmed. Please note there will be no lecture on Monday 30 September.
