If you enjoy reading crime novels and talking about books, join this class. After an introductory talk on Latin American crime fiction (1960s to the present), read and discuss three selected novels from Colombia, Cuba and Argentina (all available in English). Study this popular genre and learn about Latin American societies. Discover what to read next through examples from other Latin American countries.
The books are ‘Chronicle of a Death Foretold’ by Gabriel García Márquez, this book should be read before week 2, ‘Havana Blue’ by Leonardo Padura Fuentes, this book should be read before week 4 and ‘A Crack in the Wall’ by Claudia Piñeiro, this book should be read before week 6. Although this class is taught in English, the books can be read in either English or Spanish. Please note there is no class meeting on Tuesday 9 February. This class will extend by 1 week.
These classes are aimed at those aged 50 and over.
