D287: Musical Theatre Appreciation (online via Zoom)

Cappella Nova Outreach

If you love Musical Theatre, this class is for you, returning with a fresh selection of songs! We'll focus on one Musical each week, and discuss the show’s composers, plot line, impact on society and other distinctive features. We will listen to some of our favourite songs from the show and, with our mics on mute, we can belt them out together to our hearts content! We’ll set various fun, creative tasks throughout the course, such as coming up with your own musical theatre lyrics and plot lines. There will also be some vocal warm ups and games to get the voice going, and help you master good breathing techniques. Shows will range from good old Broadway classics to more modern contemporary works. Led by recording artist, session musician and West End actor Libby Crabtree, who has delivered ‘Singing the Musicals’ for the Centre in recent years.
