Online Genealogy, SIGS Spotlight Talks
Join us for this inaugural Strathclyde Institute for Genealogical Studies Spotlight Talk featuring Nathan Dylan Goodwin, a genealogist and author of the Forensic Genealogist fiction series (and other non-fiction and fiction books). In this talk on using fact with fiction, Nathan discusses how he uses real genealogy and historical facts in his fictional writing. Using his genealogical crime mystery stories as case studies, he will discuss the issues and problems of combining fact and fiction and the use of authentic genealogical methodology. Nathan will also share some of the more interesting and less familiar records which he has used in the process of writing his books. Time will be available for Q&A. The Strathclyde Institute for Genealogical Studies at the Centre for Lifelong Learning was established to bring together a growing network of individuals and organisations to share knowledge and build a thriving academic genealogy community for all. SIGS’ Spotlight Talks will be offered quarterly and will feature speakers involved in various aspects of genealogy and family history and related fields.
Registration will close at 15.30 GMT on 23 January and an email with the Zoom webinar link will be sent by 17.00 GMT.
