E131: Escape from the Tower of London - CL

Carnegie Library, History, **NEW for Academic Year 2024-2025**

In over 900 years of the Tower of London's history very few people managed to escape. Even fewer escaped without being re-captured. One of the lucky ones was William Maxwell, 5th Earl of Nithsdale, who was imprisoned after the failure of the 1715 Jacobite Rising. Find out how Lady Nithsdale's ingenious plot succeeded where others had failed. Did they live happily ever after? All will be revealed in this talk!

An adult learning class from one of CLL’s satellite facilities, the Carnegie Library in Ayr.
