Carnegie Library, **NEW for Academic Year 2024-2025**, History
The Channel Islands were the only part of the British Isles to be occupied by Nazi Germany in World War 2. The story of the plight of their residents has almost been forgotten. In this lecture you will find out how life changed radically for Islanders who had to obey a new set of restraining laws, increasingly severe rationing and separation from family members who were serving in HM Forces or had evacuated. Learn about those who were interned in German prisons or extermination camps. Share Islanders’ joy when liberation finally came. Lecture style with question and answer time.
An adult learning class from one of CLL’s satellite facilities, the Carnegie Library in Ayr.
