D243: Using the Register of Corrected Entries and other sources for Scottish Family History Research

**NEW for Academic Year 2025-2026**, Genealogy on campus/satellite

This class will explore what the Register of Corrected Entries (RCE) is, how it was used in conjunction with Scottish Birth, Marriage, and Death certificates, and where these entries can be found. The tutor will demonstrate how, having found the RCE and noted the information provided, researchers can use further sources to expand the story. These may include Church Records, Court Records (Both Civil and Criminal), Fatal Accident Inquiries, and Newspapers, among others. Session 1 will look at why RCE’s came into use and where to find them. Session 2 will look at Birth Certificates and further resources that can be used. Session 3 will look at Marriage Certificates and further sources and the final session will look at Death Certificates. Lecture style with question and answer time.
