Come along and learn about the history of the visual arts as a communication method in this concise but engaging class. Greatly enhance your ability to appreciate, understand, judge and derive meaning from art in this informative class. A chronological overview from the earliest cave art to a Postmodern critique of contemporary arts will be presented, discussed and argued. Learn and practise critical skills of value and debate leading to a deeper insight into ‘isms’ and movements that has shaped visual culture over the last few millennia. Engaging discussions makes this class exciting and presents history as a living engagement. Illustrated lectures with open discussions and basic class formative exercises will be presented as well as a visit an art museum.   The cost of the museum is not included in the class fee and more details will be provided at a later date.
