Creative Writing online anytime (Blaze)
10 credits (Applied Writing)
This introductory-level class will introduce you to the basic principles of creative writing and encourage you to enjoy finding the words to communicate your ideas and stories. This class is delivered through Myplace, the University's virtual learning environment, allowing you to work in your own time. With weekly lessons using downloadable learning materials, there will be exercises to inspire you and the submission of writing throughout the class. 'Kindling' is designed as an interactive learning experience and you will be able to communicate directly with your fellow students and the tutor with online forums, where you can leave written posts, and with two Microsoft Teams 'live chats'. Focused on your individual creative processes and abilities, and providing written feedback on all submitted pieces, this class will help you kindle your writing into life. Note that this class is the online, credit-bearing version of the 'Creative Writing for Beginners' class (OS616). Credit can be awarded for either class, but not both.
Within the class confirmation email you will find a link to CLL’s 'Learning Guides' webpage providing all the relevant information for starting the class. Prior to the class start date IT Services will issue your Myplace username and password in two separate emails.
Please note the Myplace site will open on the start date of the class, and is then accessible for the full duration of the class (there are no scheduled weekly sessions). You will be notified via Myplace of dates of any live chat opportunities.
