E405: Feeding the Flame: Creative Writing for Writers (OS672) (online via Myplace)

Creative Writing online anytime (Blaze)

10 credits (Applied Writing)

This class is suitable for anyone who is writing regularly as time allows, 'Feeding the Flame' is also designed for previous students of 'Kindling' or the on-campus version 'Creative Writing for Beginners' who wish to further develop their creative writing skills in areas such as building ideas, story structure, characterisation and revision and editing.

You will strengthen your writing skills with downloadable learning materials and regular writing assignments. This class is delivered through Myplace, the University's virtual learning environment, allowing you to work in your own time. Written feedback will be provided on all submitted pieces. You will also be able to communicate with your fellow students and the tutor through online forums, where you can leave written posts and with two Microsoft Teams 'live chats'. Note that this class is the online, credit-bearing version of the 'Taking Your Creative Writing Further 2' class (OS618). Credit can be awarded for either class, but not both.

Within the class confirmation email you will find a link to CLL’s 'Learning Guides' webpage providing all the relevant information for starting the class. Prior to the class start date IT Services will issue your Myplace username and password in two separate emails.

Please note the Myplace site will open on the start date of the class, and is then accessible for the full duration of the class (there are no scheduled weekly sessions). You will be notified via Myplace of dates of any live chat opportunities.
