We are delighted to offer a new opportunity this year to join undergraduate students in their second-year History lectures and get a real flavour of what studying is like as an undergraduate student. The classes have been adapted for Open Campus students so there are no exams, assessments or tutorials. They provide intellectually stimulating opportunities to undertake non-accredited learning in collaboration with the Department of History. 

The class introduces Glasgow’s history, culture and identity from its origins to the present day. The history and development of the city will be examined and explored via literature, architecture, for example, in addition to traditional historical approaches. An interdisciplinary perspective will be adopted throughout the course, and Glasgow will serve as a lens through which students will be exposed to the various factors (politics, religion, geography, immigration, health, culture, science and technology etc) that impact upon a place and how it is perceived by the world.

A full induction session will be held on Thursday 17 September at 2pm in GH752, level 7, Graham Hills Building, 40 George Street, after which all students will have access to class materials and will attend class on campus each week. A full timetable will be provided at the induction session. This module is taught by two lectures a week over 10 weeks. Lectures will be held on Thursdays 2-3pm and Fridays 1-2pm.
