Health and Safety Risk Management
30 credits (Health and Safety Risk Management)
This course comprises 3 modules:
1. Principles of Health and Safety Risk Management - introduces learners to the fundamental principles of health and safety risk management that are applicable in all workplace settings.
2. Principles of Occupational Health and Wellbeing - introduces learners to the fundamental principles of occupational health, and wellbeing within the workplace.
3. Introduction to Human Factors - introduces learners to Human Factors and the organisational, environmental and job factors which can affect health and safety at work.
All modules are fully online and accessed via the University’s Virtual Learning Environment, Myplace. You can study from your own home at whatever time you choose, within the specified duration of each module.
Students who successfully complete the assessments will receive an Open Studies Certificate worth 30 University of Strathclyde credits.
Please note that these modules were previously offered under the ‘Upskilling’ programme in 2023/24.

Module 1 Principles of Health and Safety Risk Management: 03/02/2025-14/03/2025
Module 2 Principles of Occupational Health and Wellbeing: 31/03/2025-09/05/2025
Module 3 Introduction to Human Factors: 26/05/2025-04/07/2025.
Note: If you earn £25,000 or less, funding may be available to you through the Student Awards Agency Scotland’s (SAAS) Part-time Fee Grant (PTFG). The course fee is £450 and if you are eligible the SAAS Part-Time Fee Grant will fund £321 of this fee. Please note you will be required to pay the full fee upfront to secure a place and if/when your PTFG funding is confirmed (evidenced by an Award Notice) the Centre will process a refund for the difference.
